5 out of 5 stars Perfect Pot for Cooking Herbs . . .   January 6, 2009

I struggled to find a pot to boil/cook herbs in to drink as a tea (recommended by a Chinese acupuncturist) until I found this glass pot on-line. It fits the bill being non-metallic, and allows you to see how vigorous of a boil you have going and how much the liquid is reducing without even lifting the lid. (We turn the lid a little to the side and set it on top of the pot to provide more of a vent opening.) It works very well for the intended purpose and cleans up easily and beautifully. Obviously, you do need to handle it more carefully than a metal pot; however, other than that, it is a great pot at a good price! The cork trivet is a nice extra as well.

5 out of 5 stars Safe, Healthy, Durable!   April 26, 2008

I use this pot to cook and make soups most of the time. It's best used for making vegetable soups based on my own personal experience and usage. Also, it's good to brew tea and herbal medicines. The Chinese use the glazed pots to brew herbal med. But the glaze may contain some amount of lead that could leak into the beverage (though generally negligible). Now I can use this pot to brew herbal medicine and soup. According to the practice of the Chinese, when you brew ginseng, you should not use a steel wear but clay or ceramic. This pot is a good alternative taht I found very safe.

Cautions: Use the Wire Gauze to avoid direct contact with flame; 2nd. Use the trivet and avoid contact with hard surfaces.

I needed a glass cooking pot to make egg cheese (a family tradition) for Easter. This pot was perfect for the cooking portion -- and the easy clean-up as well. I also like being able to move this attractive pot from the stove to the table.

My daughter just got a smooth topped stove and I gave this glass pot to her as I thought it would be nice to go from stove to table.
